Welcome to The Delaware Comprehensive Sickle Cell Research Program



Welcome to the The Delaware Comprehensive Sickle Cell Research Center, one of the NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE).  The Center is built on a foundation in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) but with the potential to impact other chronic diseases.  The Center program is designed to meet the ongoing needs of sickle cell patients and their families and is built upon strengths in biomedical research, clinical care, recruitment, collaborations and resources to create a sustainable translational and clinical research infrastructure in sickle cell disease.  The multidisciplinary SCD COBRE Program is supportive of junior faculty development and growth in a single thematic focus in sickle cell disease, and establish a sustainable infrastructure that is supportive of clinical on our expertise in clinical care and basic science research.  Well-established and structured mentoring program will support development of junior investigators. It is our mission to introduce such a Comprehensive SCD Research Center for the communities in the State of Delaware and surrounding areas

The overall Center plan is incorporated key individuals, core facilities and resources previously funded through the Institutional Development Award Program (IDeA) Networks, including the Center for Pediatric Research COBRE and the Delaware IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE).
