Administrative Core
The Administrative Core will provide resources and infrastructure for a Multidisciplinary Center for Sickle Cell Research, and demonstrate that the 3 Target Investigators and the 6 Investigators with Pilot studies have had research, mentoring and educational programs specifically tailored to meet their individual needs. Benchmarks to monitor their progression into successful independent investigators have been established. Our programmatic path to self-sufficiency is articulated, including the steps that will be undertaken to attain a critical academic mass.
The PI will provide leadership and oversight via the organization and coordination of regularly scheduled meetings of all groups, the implementation of suggestions provided by the EAC and IAC. The PI will also oversee the execution of administrative and budgetary functions, monitoring of ongoing Target and Pilot Project, IRB issues, and the writing and dissemination of annual reports of the Center’s Progress. The COBRE Program Administrator will assist the PI in all aspects including pre-award, post-award and closing of each budget cycle.
This Core will also coordinate the activities of the sites involved. The Delaware Comprehensive Sickle Cell Research Center website will also be created linking A.I. duPont Hospital for Children and the collaborating institutions. In addition, the core will also process and initiate the COBRE renewal applications.
